1 Overview & Applicability
Welcome to UPSC Previous Papers & Mains PYQs ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users ("user", "you"). This Privacy Policy explains how our Android application collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our mobile application.
By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
2 Information We Collect & Store
We believe in data minimization. We do NOT collect personal identifying information such as your name, phone number, email address, or contact list.
- Local Device Data (Room Database): Custom Study Notes, Page-Level Bookmarks, and Reading Progress pages are stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database. This data is private to your device and is never uploaded to external servers.
- PDF Document Cache: UPSC question papers downloaded for offline viewing are stored in your device's private app cache storage.
- Device Identifiers & Diagnostics: Automated technical data such as operating system version, device model, and crash logs collected standardly by Android OS and Google Play Services to ensure performance stability.
3 Google AdMob & Advertising Data Policy
Our application uses Google AdMob (a service provided by Google LLC) to serve advertisements. AdMob enables us to provide this application free of charge to UPSC aspirants.
Google AdMob Policy Compliance: Our application strictly enforces a 30-second frequency capping safeguard for full-screen ads. Advertisements never block user study actions unexpectedly or violate Google Publisher Policies.
AdMob may collect and process information such as:
- Advertising ID (GAID): Google Advertising Identifier used for ad frequency capping and fraud prevention.
- IP Address & Approximate Location: Used by Google to deliver relevant regional test ads or localized content.
- Ad Interaction Data: Non-personal metrics on ad impressions, clicks, and performance.
You can manage your personalized ad preferences or opt-out of personalized ads at any time via your Android device settings under Settings > Google > Ads.
4 Permissions Requested
To provide full functionality, the application requests the following standard Android permissions:
android.permission.INTERNET: Required to load online UPSC PDF papers and Google AdMob ads.android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used to verify active network connection before opening PDF papers online.android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE/WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE(Scoped Storage): Used strictly for exporting or saving PDF papers when requested by the user.
5 Third-Party Links & External Websites
Our application contains links to official government resources, such as the official Union Public Service Commission website (https://upsc.gov.in). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party external websites.
6 Children's Privacy
Our application is designed for educational purposes for candidates preparing for UPSC examinations (typically ages 18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us immediately so we can remove it.
7 Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated Last Updated date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically for any changes.
